sat oct 13 am hunt warm sse breeze copiah county white acorn covered ridge A2-3 at 8;10 had a doe eating acorns at 38 yards watched for a few minutes to make sure she didnt have others with her... as she was approaching a shooting lane I started turnin and drawing my bow... got busted by a doe trailing her about fifty yards )&*(^%*^%^*^$ sat till 9 30 nothing else seen.
sat oct 13 pm hunt winds sse hot hunted a food plot bordered on two sides by creeks. no deer sightings but had two seperate flocks of turkeys feed through first flock has 12 second flock had 22 made the hunt go by faster
sun oct 14 pm hunt no am hunt due to sinuses acting up but the evening hunt was on a new set(walters) got settled into the stand at 5;15 due to it being so hot.... this stand is set up on the edge of a foodplot in a 20yr pine thicket and edged by a 4 yr old cut over... saw 1 deer in the cutover at 6;10 nothing else sighted
10/19/12 pm hunt went to a new set on family land with no bow,,,, had been seeing a couple of good bucks and several does from the road and was wanting to see if the stand was right to hunt for them....(reason for no bow left work to late to run by house to get it) I get settled in the stand at 535.... at 6;20 the does starting showing up and some in bow range some not. As the shadows grew I caught movement in the cane along the creek and it was the group of bucks making their way through to the oaks.... In all 5 bucks came through with 2 nice shooters and as they fed they stayed just out of bow range but it heightened my hopes for this stand
10/20/12 am hunt hinds county was headed to my favorite bow standand as i was walking in realized the wind was the one direction that I did not need it so to plan b for the am hunt.... after wasting 30 minutes I got to the swag stand.... being late I hurriedly got everything situated and day light had done got here..... so I settled in... at 7;25 heard something blow up wind of me in a thicket but never saw it ,,,, dont think it was blowing at me but you can never tell..... at 7;50 had a big doe step through and openin along an old fenceline and she acted very nervous.... walking back and forth along the trees along the fence line several times sniffing every limb hanging down..... finally after 25 minutes she angles into my shooting zone and starts feeding even tho she is still acting nervous..... as she feeds behind some under brush at 32 yards I draw and when she steps out and stops I let the arrow go..... she drops further than the average doe and twist at the same time sending the arrow into the no kill zoneand lodging into the opposite front shoulder no exit,,,,,,, this leasves no blood to follow.... attempting to find her to no avail until 230........
10/21/12 am hunt hinds county still battling with this sinus infection I meet a friend at the lease and he goes to shortys ridge and I go back to the swag stand.... I get set up in the stand and watch turkeys all morning from daylight to 10 am when I get down no deer seen.... however at 8;15 i get a text from Tyler that he got a doe down..........
10/26/12 pm hunt went to family land and the wind was not right for the set I wanted to hunt so I eased my way to what we call the pond stand and its an oak covered pinch point between two pastures.... two coyotes and a family of coons were all that showed up until about 6;05 and I had 7 does feed through
10/30/12 pm hunt hinds family land back on my favorite set 14 does came traveling through at several different times of the hunt and as light was fading the 2 shooter bucks came up out of the creek however they came out about 70 yard from where they had been coming out.... I watched them as long as light would let me and I staye in the stand another 45 minutes so not to spoook em
11/2/12 wind change force me to hunt in clinton pm hunt I went to a stand call the concession stand.... had no activity until late in the hunt and I had a couple of does and couple of small bucks eat on acorns and on into this secluded plot... sat watched and enjoyed
11/3/12 pm hinds clinton decided to go back to the concession stand.... at 5:15 had 2 young buck feeding around me playing and just making for a good hunt then as the 6 oclock hour approached they started getiing nervous and fidgitty..... at 6:10 a 8 points rushes into the plot and bowls over one of the younger bucks.. he has the pertiest rack i have ever seen about 2 to 3 inches on all tines are white then turn to deep dark chocolate.. I watch him for 5 minutes or so then he gets completely broadsided at 32 yards... I settle the pin on him and let the rage fly... the lumenock disappears through the center of his ribcage...... I did a celebratory dance on my stand lowered all my gear went to the spot of the shot blood but no arrow..... trailed this deer for 150 yards and blod stopped.... Kept looking until near midnight..... My buddy with a dog could not be reached...... went back next morning with all the rain dog could do no good looked until noon no find
11/13/12 hinds farm winds n ne 52 drizzly at 5pm had 9 does come through like clock work and the 8 point came within range but I was hunting here for the 10 pt that I have been looking for. the 8 point is only a 2.5 yr old deer... deer will blow at a skunk as I got to witness as a skunk came through right before I got down....
