Getting my things ready for my first hunt in the morning! Hoping it doesn't rain me out. Got a new stand hung the other day, should be a good location, it has incredible cover around it.

Oct 11 PM hunt
81* swirling wind HOT
Sat in my climber in a thicket close to bedding area. Saw 7 does, none close enough for a shot. 3 of them winded me. Wind couldn't make up it's mind which way it wanted to blow. Good to be back in the woods though. Start my new job in the morning, and will get back in the woods Friday morning

Climbing stand near food plot in pine thicket. Saw one big doe at 4:30, too far away for a shot. Spooked another when I was walking out. Looking forward to tomorrow.

61* calm wind
Hunted the "old cabin road" ladder stand. It sits on a ridge of mixed pine and hardwood about 100 yards off of a food plot. 3 does fed in around 430, I watched them feed away to about 60 yards, I grunted twice at them, and they slowly turned and came back my way. They fed up to 15 yards away, I picked the biggest one and let my Mathews do the rest. That 3 blade Rage did a number on her! She only ran 50 yards before she piled up. Thank you Lord!

46* SSE wind at 4mph
Sat in my climbing stand this afternoon on a food plot.
4:15pm 2 does come into plot, so I stand up and clip my release on.
The feed and feed and feed and feed and feed some more.
4:30pm they have fed around the corner out of sight but one is walking in the woods behind me so I stay frozen.
4:45pm the 2 does have come back in sight. I'm still standing, frozen. One breaks away and comes in at 35 yards. I need her a little closer.
4:55 she's feeding at 28 yards and getting closer, I need her to turn. She does and gets behind a sweet gum sapling so I draw my bow and she just stops.
4:57pm still at full draw she finally gets in an opening in the tree and I let the rage do its thing. Lumen ok didn't light so I didn't see my shot. But I had a great blood trail and finally found her <100 yards away. Thank you Lord!

25* NE wind
Hunted the newly acquired 20ac, it's all 15 year old untouched cutover, so when I say it's thick, that's an understatement. I can only see about 30-40 yards in any direction. On this hunt I saw a giant bodied deer, couldn't tell what it was. Then I jumped 3 more on the way out. Will be back.

11-28 pm hunt
48* SW wind
Hunted the hilltop plot. Counted 9 scrapes around the plot, most likely a young buck. Watched a yearling from 4:00 until dark. Also saw 2 rabbits.

Hunted 5 ac tract. Sat on a hardwood ridge overlooking a sage field and acorn flat. Nothing seen, likely due to noisy neighbors.

Fence line ladder stand, 2 does in plot when I walked up, made sure nothing was with them and shot the biggest doe. She jumped and ran off, so I Went on to my stand. Saw 3 more does while in the stand. After dark went to look for blood, found blood for 20 feet or so and lost it. Going back in the morning to see if I can find her.

Wooden ladder stand. Busted by a big doe walking in. Got setup and watched another small doe for awhile about 3:30.
At 4:30 two big does came in and I managed to shoot them both. That makes doe #4 and #5. Limited out. Even though I've yet to lay eyes on a buck this season, it has been really good for the freezer. Now I can hunt for horns only. :ylsuper:
