December 3rd, Monday - I got my husband to drop me off on the road near the hog farm stand and I walked into it while it was still dark. I got settled in and before long, a really nice 4 point came out of the thicket. I kept looking for brow tines that would make him a 6 point that he looked to be, but there were none. I would have let him walk anyway. He fed in front of me for a while and then gradually walked on. It stayed cloudy most of the morning. A little while after the 4 point left, some deer came running through the woods. Two (buck? and doe) kept going, but the fawn came over to my stand and laid down. It kept looking in the direction his momma had gone and then started looking the opposite direction. Another doe came shooting through the woods and made an abrupt turn, running back behind me and the fawn. I figured she'd wind me and be gone. The fawn finally got up and went in the direction we had last seen his momma. Then I turned around and the other doe was right behind me. She never spooked and walked on off back through the woods. Other than seeing a pretty bobcat, that was it for the hunt. The sun came out and the wind started blowing really hard, so I hoofed it on home, not seeing any more deer.
