19* N wind 10-15
Hilltop plot, watched the same 4 does from yesterday evening for close to an hour. I love it when they stay within sight for long periods of time. I keep hoping the big 9 will stop in and check on them. Fingers crossed, this extremely cold weather has the deer moving good

Sat in "Rachel's Stand" (Not sure why, but that's what it's called) on the club lease. I intentionally arrived a little behind schedule, got settled in about 8. Now this stand sits on a hardwood/pine draw leading down to a duck pond and slough about 100 yards away. Very close proximity to the huge scrapes I saw the other morning. At 8:30, I heard a limb break from across the slough followed by a loud ice breaking noise. Bounding across the slough is a 200 lb+ shooter buck. I had about 5-10seconds worth of seeing him through holes in the brush before he was out of sight and gone. Never could get a shot on him because it happened so fast. I'm about to head back to that general area. We have a food plot within a couple hundred yards on that side of the slough, I'll sit there this evening. Maybe he will show himself again.

Sat on the south side of the slough where I saw the shooter cross this morning. Been there 5 minutes and saw the 4 resident gobblers. I think they follow me around. No deer seen on this hunt.

Went with a buddy and sat in a pine tree thicket. Never been here before no deer seen.

Hunt 56
Jan 9 PM
47* SE wind
I'm back on the slough where I saw the shooter cross. I just finished hanging a stand on the other side of the slough but the wind was not right to hunt it. Maybe ole bigun will show back up, it's been a really difficult season for me, but I'm hoping persistence will pay off.

Right at dark, 2 huge bobcats walked into the plot, I killed one and wounded the second(larger) of the two. I had a decent blood trail for about 15 yards then I lost it. While searching for the wounded bobcat, I spotted a big ole swamp rabbit right where they had come from. It's a wonder they didn't eat him. No deer seen on this sit.

Jumped one walking in, none seen after that.
Will be in this stand at 8am in the morning.

PM hunt 52* SW wind

Didn't get to hunt this morning, so this afternoon I went to my bottom plot.
It appears leaves and pine needles have choked out the green grass. I saw about 100 squirrels and no deer. I just can't get a handle on them this year. Try again in the morning.

Hunt 64 if you can call it a hunt... Jan 23
Got in my climber in a bedding thicket, about 1030. Sinuses went berserk, started coughing, sneezing, sniffling... managed to it until 1230. No deer seen.

59 total deer seen in MS this season. Abysmal numbers. Maybe next season will be better. I saw 59 or more on my 3 day hunt in IL.
