X Bow Question

For those that use crossbows, what broadhead do yall recommend and why ? My wife is unable to draw her bow this year due to some health issues so I bought her a crossbow. I have never been a mechanical broadhead guy (cost me a huge buck due to lack of penetration) and I am really not thrilled about her shooting them but it seems with a crossbow that might be the best route for her.

I've killed 6 with my xbow using grim reaper 1.5" cut mechanicals. I've had pass through on 5 and hit the off shoulder on a 9pt. I like the reapers because theres no o-rings.

I have had issues with mechanicals lost 3 last year I shoot muzzy 3 blade 125 , slick trick magnums are also good you would think you would get fantastic blood trails but I have found just the opposite have taken several with mechanicals have had very sparse blood trails due to lack of pass through shots bolt goes in high most blood stays in the chest cavity with the fixed heads I get a full pass through shot I had the same results with my vertical bow

How do the Muzzy 3 blades fly ? I was worried about tuning issues with regards to shooting a fixed blade with a crossbow. I have shot Muzzy out of my regular compound bow for decades and so has my wife so this is good to hear. Thanks.

Magnus Hornet (sp). That’ll be what I’m slinging this year. Hadn’t checked but if they have the 2 blade in them I may use them for my recurve instead of the stinger.

Understood! Use what gets u out there.

This will be my first year with a crossbow and just because I like to complicate things a recurve. Never have hunted with either but have spent many an hour honing my skills. Spent many an hour reading about each too. Each has its on set of challenges and both got me back into slinging arrows for fun. A little excited to hit the woods this yr.

I have taken 70+ whitetails with archery equipment every one blessing but over the 50 + years of bow hunting only killed one with a recurve and it was a doe missed a few more I started bow hunting before bow hunting was cool the crossbow isn't a gun and brings it's own set of challenges practice makes Perfect I took my largest buck to date with a crossbow at 6 yds a 1751/8 public land giant 10/31/2016

I always shot fixed blade Muzzy 3 blade 100 grains when I could shoot a regular bow. I still use them with my vertical crossbow with no problems at all. Of course it shoots regular arrows instead of bolts, but I imagine they would fly just the same.
